ALAN JONES PASSING OF A LEGEND – In Memory of Alan 1948 – 2024

We are dedicating this months newsletter to Alan Jones. It was heartbreaking and devastation for the team at Unique Tennis to lose and announce the passing of our beloved mentor, father figure, friend and colleague, Alan, in April after a very short illness with pancreatic cancer. It’s difficult to put into words how much he meant to all of us at Unique Tennis, we will be eternally grateful to him and cherish the incredible memories we shared over the years. He may be gone but his legacy will live long through us. We will do our very best to ensure his legacy remains strong, as we continue what he created.

As expected there was an incredible turn out for Alan’s funeral on the 25th of April and it was a beautiful service with some wonderful stories of his illustrious career. It was lovely to see so many people who’s lives Alan had touched over the years share their stories of him and bring them to life. Memories of him that will stay with us forever. A massive thanks to those of you that attended both the service at Enfield Crematorium and the celebration of his life at Crews Hill Golf Club. Also a huge thanks to all those who were so generous in donating to one of the charities close to the families hearts, the money raised has gone to some very worthwhile causes and will no doubt have a positive impact.

UT Alan Jones

Anyone still wishing to donate, or if you would just like to simply read some of the tributes that people have written you can do so using the following link. As previously mentioned we would like to have a celebration of Alans life at Hazelwood over the summer, which will be more appropriate for the younger players at UT to attend. We are looking to do a BBQ and there is also going to be a cherry tree planted at the club in his memory. There is some articles that have been written about Alan following his passing, we have attached some of the articles for you on the following page along with some newspaper clippings.
